If we built a border wall out of used Yarises It would take it 570,000 of them. At $3500 each this is around $2 billion of them. Savings. Unfortunately Toyota didn’t sell that many of them here but we could probably add  in all the Mustangs crashed at Cars and Coffee to make up the difference.

If we had no gas, it would really cut into our transportation emissions, which are the biggest source.

I like the Yaris. I considered one when I was car shopping in the summer, but wow are they terrible cars if you have to sit in one for more than 15 minutes. And that’s compared to a 23 year old VW.

i dont think too many people are dreaming of a used Yaris.  The people who are losing paychecks is probably the part of this that pisses me off the most.  I feel bad for them.  They are getting the worst of this and can’t do anything about it.

I am one of these furloughed government workers (I’m still working though as I am ‘essential’. Just not ‘essential’ enough to actually be paid)

I got enough funds to get me though February comfortably.  And my wife has been able to pick up extra shifts at her clinic where she’s an RN.  But if this goes into March and I’m still not getting paid, my RX-8 will be up for sale.  Fortunately it has good compression, with a Mazda compression test to prove it, so hopefully I won’t have a hard time selling it.

I suppose it would behoove you to build up an emergency fund. Really anyone should. If you can’t make it 2 or 3 months without income that’s always a bad situation to be in.

That being said, not everyone has the luxury of being able to build up a fund like that and I really feel for those people getting fucked over by Trump.

I am just as dumbfounded as the next person by the ignorance and stubborness and overall stupidity that is regul arly put on display by President Trump. He is a clownish buffoon who lacks grace, tact, heart and leadership. That said, this is theater. And it’s not new theater. Every president since Carter has engaged in the same actions with varied levels of success and for varied reasons.

Federal employees receive good pay and great benefits.  The downside is that you may not get a check sometimes when the little kids running the show decide to take their ball and go home.  In all instances (I think - my Google check was quick) the furloughed federal employees have received back pay.  It’s a stupid game played by stupid people and in this case it’s even stupider than “usual.”

Certainly. Although I might argue that this shutdown is particularly petty, the one during the Obama administration was for the humanitarian goal of increasing access to healthcare, how it worked out may have left something to be desired, but I find it a much more worthy reason than a fucking wall.

That said, this is theater. And it’s not new theater.

Maybe, maybe not. I feel Trump takes it to new levels. Using national addresses usually reserved for war and mourning to address the people of America about his stupid project that’s been proven time and time again to be less effective than other methods. And his demeanor overall is not that of a president. It’s not even that of the average middle- schooler. Previous presidents have set a fairly low bar at times, but he in my opinion, has limbo’d under it with ease.

It’s a stupid game played by stupid people and in this case it’s even stupider than “usual.”
